Sharing the Profits
For 15 years, for every $1 worth of energy produced, $1.50 is shared with DC residents. We estimate this to be $100,00 in the first year alone. The You can apply to share in these benefits here.
NSE—Solar for All project is delivering those funds to our DC community in three ways:
Stability Support Program
The Stability Support Program is a direct beneficiary program that offsets a household’s energy bills. It allows households to gain financial stability and build fiscal resilience.
Emergency Assistance Fund
A portion of the benefits are earmarked for emergency utility assistance. The Emergency Assistance Program is specifically intended to spare families facing immediate electricity shut-off. These are one-off, as-needed payments made directly to the utility provider by partner nonprofits. The Salvation Army will administer this funding stream through their existing Washington Area Fuel Fund; DC residents in need can access this Emergency Assistance through them.
Supporting Nonprofit Resiliency
The stream of revenue delivered from the SREC profit generated by this system will be directed to nonprofit partners providing transitional and short-term housing assistance for low-income residents in DC. This funding assistance can be used as the nonprofit partner needs to achieve its mission of poverty alleviation, housing support, and other service provision to DC residents.
